03/09/03: I returned today from a trip to Shanghai. My mom and I were finalizing things for her new apartment there. I'm feeling tired and in two days (Tues) I start my new job. I will be a Client Analyst for Compliance Ease. Hopefully the jetlag won't hit me too hard on my first day of work! 02/11/03: Well, as Valentines approaches and Mehdi STILL isn't here I find myself in disbelief. Seriously, DISBELIEF. What is going on! How can it take over 7 months for one visa to be approved--or even rejected! I don't know what has happened to the system but something has to be done to stop this madness. LIVES ARE BEING AFFECTED. On a selfish note, I would like to say that my life has REALLY been changed. I have been in limbo ever since this whole ordeal began, and it is very difficult for me to look for a job in CA--and essentially acknowledge that Mehdi and I may not be together again for a long time. Some friends have recommended getting in touch with an immigration lawyer and I guess that the next step/last option/last hope will be to do just that.
01/04/03: Our family had a wonderful reunion in Las Vegas and I've posted pictures on a link you can access from the family reunion page. I'm hoping to visit Mehdi in London in mid-January. Promise has her second show this Saturday, wish us luck!
12/10/02: Yesterday was my dad's birthday and I still haven't mailed his card. ugh. Of course Mehdi is still waiting for his visa--nothing new there. I spoke with my close friend and he's going to talk to his grandpa about laying on the "squeeze" with the DOS (his grandpa is Congressman Lantos).
11/09/02: Mehdi and I continue to wait for his visa to come to the States. I am putting together a page documenting his visa experience which I hope to have up by mid-November. Throughout it all Congressman Tom Lantos' Office has been extremely helpful with Mehdi's case.
10/26/02: Promise took a Second Place Win in the 12-18 Month Open Bitch Class at the Sacramento Dog Fanciers Association Show in Dixon, CA. We are so excited. More important than the win were the great friends we met. We're looking forward to the Skyline Dog Show at the end of November.
10/13/02: I am here in Kuwait visiting Mehdi and his family. I came here with the intention of seeing Mehdi's home before he returned to the states to begin work. Two weeks later we are still waiting for him to receive his visa. **WE HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE JULY 8, 2002
